I dropped off 3 -- 1 X 6 X 12 boards for Kenneth along with a five gallon bucket of paint (from the large donation I received b/4 Miss Maggie/s). He is going to make the repairs from the materials that code enforcement is requesting and I'm going to get a guy from the house to help him make his minor soffit repair.

Then the house should be ready for us and for our visit.

We do need to get him into compliance with HPC and shoot for a time when he can put the correct siding up. I'm going to ask Autumn at Joel's office if they would waive their HPC filing fee for him. If he could get permission to put up the hardiboard siding (like the HPC gave to Habijax) that would help him enormously.

I am not suggesting that we tackle the siding situation right now. He doesn't need to deal with that for code enforcement, but eventually historic code enforcement will be on him and the COA will be good for a year.

After beautifying this house, I'd like to see the homeowner in compliance with code enforcement, working toward compliance with HPC. Then, we have beautified and "saved" this dwelling, IMHO.

I dropped off the boards & donated paint as stated above ^ on Friday and by today, Kenneth has them up and painted. Now, this is a stop gap measure until he can afford (or we can raise funds for him) true wood siding. But in the meantime, this gets code enforcement off of his back for this section.

<gloria>

I delivered three more boards to Kenneth today. That makes 6 out of our Carolina Lumber kitty. Probably under $50

There was a great turn out, and we worked hard and were able to accomplish it all in one day...

Iloveionia or Gloria - SACARC has an igloo doghouse to donate. It is in our President, Cathy Campbell's, backyard. Please contact her to make arrangements to pick it up.
