Summary: We have just seven days to totally rebuild an entire house!

Name: Diane Korman (ABC TV Show)

Category: Entertainment and Media

Email: query-163m@helpareporter.com

Media Outlet: ABC TV Show

Deadline: 07:00 PM EST - 7 May

Query:

EMHE is traveling the country looking for deserving families. Can
you help us pinpoint families and their struggles that you have
covered in the media, who could benefit from a makeover?

The first thing EMHE does is tear down the house. (Extreme Makeover Home Edition)

That is John and Monica's neighbor.
I've talked to John extensively about the house/neighbor and think it could be a great Make it Happen house for this summer.

There is Ron and Caroline.
Shoot, even Kenneth.
Or the neighbors of John/Monica.

Debbie is right, I doubt they could come into Springfield, oh wait. SURE they could.

OK, here's some ideas to kick around.

1) Build the new house on an empty lot for the deserving family (one that will fit in or complement the block) and have them donate their existing home to Habijax or sell it.

2) Explain to EMHE that we are a National Registered Historic District, and we'd love to see them restore an existing home (not add three stories or two additions to it) but to nicely do it over. It could be a big boost to Historic Districts all over the country if people could see what can be done to an old house in bad repair without destroying it.

3) Ignore EMHE because we're afraid of what they may do. :-)

No I don't watch the show, didn't even know what it was. EMHE doesn't mean anything to me. This was sent to me so I forwarded. Feel free to ignore it.

Sorry, Karla. I didn't mean to jump on you. I meant my comment as a joke, but reading it over, I can see where it could sound very different.

I wish we could interest EMHE in restoring a house, but then that wouldn't make for good TV. Far more fun to blow up a house, or drive a truck through it as I saw them do once, than to fix the existing one.

Part of the appeal of that show, as best as I can figure out, is them demolishing the old house in the most fantastic way possible, destroying all of it so that nothing gets salvaged.

I don't get it myself, but I think it's actually cheaper to do it that way. Tear down the old house and build new.
