The appeal was filed on Wednesday, October 28, 2015. Next step: City must notify those who have an interest and then it goes before LUZ.

We wait for the notification of the appeal. Perhaps I should follow up on it. :)

Houston, we have a problem!!! I just did a search to see if the appeal had made any movement, and lo and behold, it has been written and was INTRODUCED at the 11-10-15 LUZ meeting. And boy oh boy is it written INCORRECTLY!!!

It says PSOS filed for demolition and we are filing to APPROVE the demo! How the F*CK can they mess this up this bad??? I'm drafting an email now. This is on the agenda for this Tuesday's LUZ meeting 11/17/15. I will do everything in my power to be there. To be honest, I'm not sure what the process should be. I was NOT notified this had been introduced; was anyone else?

Just sent the below email:

Attached for your review is a copy of Resolution 2015786 introduced to City Council on November 10, 2015.
This Resolution was drafted as a result of Preservation SOS's appeal of the Historic Preservation Commission's
approval of COA 15606 which requested the demolition of the structure located at 1634 Ionia Street in Historic
Springfield.

I have noted below a couple of concerns with the content of the Resolution. Please correct this ASAP.
  • * Preservation SOS did NOT request the demolition of the structure (we work very hard to save historic
    structures, not destroy them).
    * The applicant did not file the Notice of Appeal; Preservation SOS filed the appeal with standing.
In addition, can you please tell me the legislative process for this appeal? I am confused on how the process
works and would appreciate your help. I see that this Resolution was introduced on 11/10/15 City Council
Agenda under 1st Readings and it is on the 11/17/15 LUZ Agenda. Does LUZ set the Public Hearing date and
does that take place within the LUZ Committee, or does that take place at a City Council meeting?

Thank you very much for your assistance.

Kim,

Thank you very much for bringing this to my attention. I’m not sure how this bill got filed this way, but we
will correct it. Obviously some draft was filed by mistake. We never file legislation with strike outs and
underlines, which is a good indication that it was the wrong attachment. Of course you did not request the
demolition. The correction will occur at the first opportunity.
