1325 Laura Street

Post by movedsouth » Wed Jan 12, 2011 3:29 pm

This house may come up at the next HPC meeting as a request to demolish.
To the north of it is 1331 Laura, a nicely renovated house owned by Sannon and Robby Palmer
To the south an empty lot and then two other houses in the same condition, the furthest to the south has a bit work done.

Owner:
Florete Orlando G Jr
820 PRUDENTIAL DR STE 111
JACKSONVILLE FL 32207

Purchased Jan 2003 for $225,000.00 !!! There are about $2,500 in back taxes.

I'm attaching the case file I emailed MCCD for today:
Case Recap 2002-12153.pdf
(119.45 KiB) Downloaded 302 times
I have not looked through it.
This owner "The Doctor" purchased 5 houses, including the big completely redone yellow one on the corner for a lump sum of about what is owed. He lists the corner one from time to time at near $600k.
I emailed Lisa Sheppard, she knew nothing of it.
Emailed Kim and told her I was calling.

(a bit too large to post here)

It got dark by the time I got there. No surprise the structure is a mess. I don't see it as an imminent risk to collapse. The first floor is boarded, but the second floor is all open. I didn't get a good look at the beams. They are covered with boards. The one in the back is exposed and shows some termite damage.

The case file has a note from Sept 2008 (last entry): "Order to demo property". Is it already a done deal? Sounds like the neighbors are complaining about it, which is no surprise. But do they ask for demo?

<ooops>

What happened to our moratorium?

Yeah, bring it up at the HPC meeting. We'll have our ducks in a row. when is that meeting, anyway?

This is one of the old ALFs. We need to get inside and take some pictures. Nicole if you can get in touch with the doctor, can you get permission for us?

If the home were mothballed completely, the raw wood painted, and the lap primed at least, it would be a lovely looking house. Should be the city's first mothball initiative, don't ya say?

Gloria, can Autumn just be emailed for them?
Rather than going down?

Only found an invite for a special masters hearing regarding 1311 and 1315 North Laura (same owner) and a note in HPC minutes from January 27th 2010 that the case about 1325 was deferred.

I am attaching the Special Masters invite as a PDF

If it went to special masters, it may have rolling fines.

we could get the file from code.
