2011 N Market St

Post by AlexS » Sat Feb 11, 2012 10:31 am

Don brought this house to my attention. He says it's next to him and a serious eye sore. Would be nice to get it mothballed. I said I will pass on the info for the group to research ownership, liens, back taxes, fines, etc ...

It is indeed a very sad house.
It was last sold in the fall of 2009 to a company called "Florida Land Trust" or something close to that. They own several properties in Springfield and behave much like Tarpon. When they bought they never paid the taxes and to date they are unpaid. They are what appears to be another cancer.
This house has been on the MLS multiple times over the last years. I can contact the most recent listing agent and go through the cycle of calls and emails to see if can get the representing agent for Florida Land Trust. I have done this before with other homes and have not been successful but it does no harm to try.
On a positive note there are 9/1 windows. Yes, 9/1 windows under those boards AND the inside living room has craftsman beams on the ceiling.

I will back track through the MLS to see if I can get direct contact info.
I need a week or so.

I was curious if anyone found out what is the status of this house. Don lives behind me and he is right next to this place. I was noticing that the yard is way over grown. I will go around there and cut the grass if it is alright. Do I need permission from some one?

Technically: yes. But as long as you don't break any gates or fences, and stay out of the house, you should be ok. It is probably the right thing to try and call the owner first. (but I am not a lawyer).

Go ahead and mow. That would be great We are mowing Dancy terrace and we don't even own half of the houses. You will be saving the owner a yellow tag and fines

I agree...just mow. I've been mowing the place on Walnut and 5th street and never asked the owner...

I got it cut this afternoon.I mowed the street, front yard and down the right side next to Don.The left side is very narrow and would be easier done with a trimmer. I didn't go in the back as it wasn't very high but a lot of sticks and such that need to be picked up. I didn't get any trimming done as all I have is an electric trimmer. I have a gas powered edger, the interchangeable type, but I dont have a trimmer attatchment. Does anyone have one they down't need that fits a Ryobi? I will post a couple pics in a bit.
