Looks like we have a quorum

I propose we have a three tier attack.

First: Relations with code.
Joe is going with Tom to file an appeal of the condemnation tomorrow. He is also going to attempt to get a list of items which failed (this is something we need to work toward on all condemnations).

Second: Nicole is going to work on fund raising for this project. Crissie has offered to help.

Third: We will do what we can. We are sending a guy from Home Away to help Tom clean up and organize his stuff. Then we need to take a look at what we have.

Cool. Hope we can help.

On an unrelated note, so we can move this to that thread, but we lost track of Kenny while I was sick. How much longer does he have and what remains to be done? Can respond on Kenny thread.

Good article. Good points made about the condemnation process.

Agreed but that change would require a paradigm shift in Code Enforcement's attitude.

This building is on the corner by the house I am purchasing and down the street from the store I am opening, anything we can do to help?

Introduce yourself to Tom. He needs support. Just being neighborly will go a long way here.
Gloria: what about interior cleanup?
And welcome to Spfld and our forum!

Yes, definitely interior clean up.

We are trying to get it organized inside and take care of the low hanging fruit items -- cosmetic, until we can get to the larger ones.

Tom's daughter is here from California. The woman is fed up with the way this city is treating her father and has put her life on hold to try and help him out.

She has hired Glory Homes to do some minor structural repairs to the building. The rest of the work, she will under-take with her dad to get him back in his business and back in his home.

Like she tells me "Dad is a simple man. He just wants to make his plastic, drink his coffee, and pet his dog."

We have engineering plans, a signed permit form, but still cannot pull the permit.

As Katherine states "I will be downtown every day until we get this worked out."
