Springfield Plastics Building

Post by iloveionia » Mon Apr 08, 2013 8:04 pm

Received a call today from Tom Metz, owner of Springfield Plastics.
Nelson Beard (and assuming Danko) went to his property on Friday (April 5, 2013) and condemned it.
Gave him 10 days to vacate.

In a nutshell code was driving by, noticed a "buldging" area on the building about 2 months ago. Came back around Friday with the supervisor Beard) and condemned the property. Tom DID allow them interior access which of course they salvated over and made their list longer with violations.

He is meeting with his attorney tomorrow.

And code is complaint driven?
Not in this case.

He should have time to correct the issues before condemnation.

Code immediately condemned without warning.
According to what I understood from Tom.
He was completely taken aback.

Glad that he is meeting with his attorney. Sounds completely illegal to me.

Right.
He was interested in Chris' expertise so tomorrow I'll make that referral should Tom confirm his interest.

in a nutshell as i have only a blip of time. not editing.
buldge is b/c of stucco that was directly adhered to framing without backer board behind it. and the window needs fixing/replacing.
$500 fix, not structural.
interior has a lot of collected treasures and applicances. drop celing removed to exposed wires.
gloria says 5 dumpsters and drop celing are needed, and drop ceiling added back.
maybe some other minor fix-its, that will indeed take money but it is not as bad as it seems or even looks. (on the interior)
don't know overall cost of clean-up/fix.
may need engineer/architect to come and and write that nothing is wrong.
joe helping tom with the appeal to special master's
chris spoke with him last night.
crissie has various ideas about support i.e. selling some of the stuff he has that could garner funds.
tom also owns liberty house where code busted fence to get in.
that was video-taped.

2 apts upstairs are each 3/1
downstairs open shop.

tom now becomes homeless and loses his business.
