About Special Masters

Post by Gloria » Sat Feb 05, 2011 8:19 pm

A Special Magistrate hears testimony from the Code Enforcement Officer and property owner(s) to determine if the violations exist, set timelines for compliance, and may issue fines of up to $250.00 per day in cases where the property owner does not comply within the ordered timeframe.

In accordance with Florida Statute Chapter 162 and Jacksonville Ordinance Code Chapter 91, Municipal Code Enforcement Special Master is scheduled to conduct hearings.

All Special Master Hearings are open to the public.

If any person desires to appeal any decision with respect to any matter considered at these meetings, such person may need a record of the proceedings; for this purpose, such person may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made which includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.

Please contact the Office of Municipal Code Enforcement (MCE) at 904-255-7000, if you need additional information
From COJ's website.

Special Masters is the place where fines are determined. It is important for us to have our voices heard regarding Springfield properties when they reach the Special Master hearing level.

I have requested the rest of the results of the hearings for February and will post them.

Johannes, it is a good idea to have these also placed in the "Discussion about the Houses" as individual threads. I'll help with that too.
