What happens if we don't get any nominations?

because i have no clue, just what i know in education, should the nominations also include a brief "summary" of who the person is and what they can offer to SOS? Everyone may not know everyone?

Is this part of the bylaws, or am I being too nitty gritty.

are we posting on myspringfield and metjax too?

Discussion: Nominations for the Board of Directors

Post by movedsouth » Wed Nov 10, 2010 11:06 pm

I am starting this threat to assist us with some of the discussions about nominations to the board of directors. I am also going to copy some of the posts in the voting thread to this thread as the voting thread should be reserved for voting.

Do not use this thread to nominate anybody. We will have a special thread for nominations once nominations open up.

To answer some of the questions so far:

- to nominate someone, you need to at least state the name. The more details (qualifications and such) are posted, the more likely the person may get elected. But I don't think our bylaws have any requirements.
- the nominee has to be an active member and willing to take the position if elected. Please ask them first :)

The nominations are public. so feel free to advertise them as widely as possible. The more qualified nominations the better. We need at least 6 candidates but there is no upper limit. If we don't get 6 candidates, then we may have to re-write our bylaws.

Once we got everything finalized (we first need to finish the vote on the procedures), I will setup a thread for nominations. We can have a second thread for discussions about candidates.

Should we limit the number of nominations a single Active member can make ? Thinking 1 or 2 here. Don't want a single person to nominate the complete board.

We should get at least 6 candidates as we can nominate each other.

I feel that we do need to nominate one another, provided any and/or all of us would like to remain. This will also help with maintaining control of the forum as well...and who gets back room permissions, etc. I'm also concerned that with having all of us up at the same time, if there's a concerted effort to take over, we can lose everything that we've worked for.
